InfoGenesis - Penny Rounding Initiative Awareness

Body

Background Information

All cash transactions will now be rounded to the nearest $0.05 (nickel). This follows Arizona SB1108 and reflects a nationwide shift as pennies become phased out and more difficult for banks to supply. The following awareness material highlights the changes that affect team members as a result of this change.

InfoGenesis Changes

InfoGenesis has been updated to reflect penny rounding in cash transactions.  The “Cash Tenure” screen will automatically round the cash transaction and the printed receipts will reflect a “Cash Rounding” line indicating that pennies have been rounded to the nearest Nickel.  No action need be taken by a team member, all cash transactions will continue to be processed as usual.

Note of Denomination Rounding:

Pennies will be rounded based on the following ending denomination

  • IN ONE OR TWO CENTS, THE TOTAL TRANSACTION AMOUNT IS ROUNDED DOWN TO THE NEAREST MULTIPLE OF FIVE CENTS.
  • IN THREE OR FOUR CENTS, THE TOTAL TRANSACTION AMOUNT IS ROUNDED UP TO THE NEAREST MULTIPLE OF FIVE CENTS.
  • IN SIX OR SEVEN CENTS, THE TOTAL TRANSACTION AMOUNT IS ROUNDED DOWN TO THE NEAREST MULTIPLE OF FIVE CENTS.
  • IN EIGHT OR NINE CENTS, THE TOTAL TRANSACTION AMOUNT IS ROUNDED UP TO THE NEAREST MULTIPLE OF FIVE CENTS.
