This Job Aide walks you through the process of checking out a key using Keywatcher.

Checking Out a Key Using Keywatcher

To check out a key using Keywatcher, please follow the steps below:

  1. Requestor will scan their time/swipe card on the reader.
  2. You will then be prompted to enter a 4-digit PIN.
    • If first time using a reader, PIN will be the last 4 digits of your CGL.
  3. A new screen/ main menu appears with different prompts, including Remove Key, Remove Group, and Change PIN.
  4. To remove and check out a key, select Remove Key.
  5. Under the Keys Available column, click the desired key to automatically move your selection to the Keys to Remove column.
  6. Select Remove Keys. Please note:
    • The door will flash and include a beeping noise.
    • Once the door flashes, open the door.
    • The key location will light up. Remove the smart key.
    • Shut the door.

Checking Out a Secure or Sensitive Key Using Keywatcher

Secure and sensitive keys require additional verification to check out. To check out a secure or sensitive key using Keywatcher, please follow the steps below:

  1. Requestor will scan their time/swipe card on the reader.
  2. A Verifier will scan their time/swipe card on the reader.
    • If a third, additional verifier is required to scan, they will either scan their time/swipe card on the reader or manually input their ID number.
    • NOTE: Cage Team will verify keys the same as before by using the PIN pad.
  3. Follow steps 4-6 in the first section of Job Aide.

Returning Keys Using Keywatcher

To return a key using Keywatcher, please follow the steps below:

  1. Follow steps 1-3 in the first section of Job Aide.
  2. From the Main Menu, select Return Key.
  3. Under the Keys to Return column, select the key you want to return. This will automatically move your selection to the Keys Available column. Please note:
    • The door will flash and include a beeping noise.
    • Once the door flashes, open the door.
    • Pick any open location/slot to return the key. Be sure to store the key with the flat side of the key facing up.
    • Shut the door.

Changing Your PIN

If your PIN is changed at any Keywatcher, it will automatically populate to all other Keywatchers. To change your PIN:

  1. Requestor will scan their time/swipe card on the reader.
  2. Enter your 4-digit PIN.
  3. From the Main Menu, select Change PIN.
  4. Follow the prompts to change your PIN.
  5. To confirm your changes, enter your changed PIN before selecting Enter.
