DocuSign - Sending an Envelope

Background Information

This Job Aide will walk you through the process of creating, organizing and sending an envelope in DocuSign.

Sending an Envelope

  1. Log into DocuSign by entering your credentials you created when you activated your account.
  2. In main screen of DocuSign, drag and drop documents into the outlined/dotted section. OR:
    • Select “Start” option to upload documents manually by following the provided instructions.
  3. In “Add Documents” screen, configure your documents into a desired order by dragging and dropping each document.
    • Note: Edit, upload or delete documents by hovering over a document to edit and/or view it.
  4. Once your documents are in order, add recipients under the “Add Recipients” section.
  5. Enter the name of the recipient and their email address in the appropriate boxes.
    • Note: If multiple recipients are needed, click “Add Recipients” and input their information in the appropriate boxes.
  6. Set a signing order by selecting the “Set Signing Order” option.
  7. Under the “Add Message” section, enter an email message to be sent to the customer.
    • Note: Customize a new email message for each recipient by selecting “Custom email and language for each recipient” option.
  8. Click “Next” in the bottom right-hand corner.
  9. Close out Manage PDF pop-up box if it appears.
  10. Select appropriate recipient in top left corner of page. Each recipient is assigned a different color.
  11. On the left-hand panel, select which function/criteria needs to be addressed by the recipient, such as a signature or date signed option. Click, hold and drag these options onto the document in desired sections.
    • Note: Edit size of option by clicking corner of an option. Hold and drag corner in any direction to shrink or enlarge option.
  12. If multiple recipients, select next recipient and add desired options as noted above.
  13. Select “Preview” in top right corner to preview how the document will appear to each recipient.
  14. Once document has been fully reviewed, select “Send” in bottom right corner to send envelope.
    • Note: Once sent, the envelope and pdf cannot be manipulated once it’s signed. Be sure everything is in order prior to sending an envelope.
  15. Review any completed envelopes under the “Manage” tab in DocuSign main page by selecting “Completed” option. OR:
    • Click the link through provided email once all recipients have signed to review the completed envelope.
