UltraVNC - Using UltraVNC Viewer Through Remote Desktop

Background Information

UltraVNC is the application being used to troubleshoot or monitor any CoolSign “Players”. This Job Aide will walk you through the necessary steps to using UltraVNC through Remote Desktop.

Signing In to UltraVNC Viewer

  1. Open the Coolsign application, and click the Network option under the Nodes section of the top ribbon
  2. Locate the “Player” you want to select, and note the IP address in the far right column
  3. Click the Windows Menu Start button from your desktop, and type MSTSC
  4. Click on the Remote Desktop Connection application that appears under “Best Match”
  5. In the Computer section, type 10.43.74.50 and click Connect
  6. A Windows Security popup will request credentials. Click More Choices
  7. Click Use a Different Account
  8. Enter your Credentials
  9. Your username should always be:
    • 10.43.74.50\”Your Department”
    • Your Shared Password can always be retrieved from Thycotic
  10. When you have entered your credentials press the Enter key or click OK, and you will be logged into the remote desktop or “Jump Box”
  11. From the Desktop of the “Jump Box”, double-click on the UltraVNC Viewer icon
  12. In the VNC Server box, enter the IP Address you noted from step 2
  13. Click Connect
  14. In the pop up, enter VNC Authentication password

Signing Out of the "Jump Box"

  1. When you are done using UltraVNC Viewer, log out of the “Jump Box” by right clicking: Start button>Shut down or sign out>Sign out
