Background Information
A W-2G is required to be issued in two situations:
- Anytime a player wins a jackpot of $600 or more
- When the player’s Net Winning (gross winnings minus buy-in fee) is $5,000 or greater for Tournament winnings.
Before tax forms can be issued, a player account must exist in CMP. Employees should search CMP records to see if an account has already been created. If no account exists, follow departmental policies regarding account creation. Once the customer account has been located or created, follow the steps below to issue a W-2G.
NOTE: If the player is a non-resident alien of the United States, a 1042S should be issued instead.
Cash Payouts
- Search for the Player Account in the Player Window
- Select the Player account
- Press F7 to issue a W-2G
- Select the Identification tab to verify that patron information has been correctly entered, paying special attention to the address
- Select the History tab to verify recent jackpot activity and to determine if Title 31 regulations apply
- Select the Tax Form Tab and add the following information:
- Document - Input the jackpot number, including the letter “JP” from the top of the jackpot payout slip.
- WagerLocn – Should indicate IPOKER
- Wager - Input the player’s wager amount (e.g., 3/6=$3, 4/8=$4)
- Gross Win - Input the amount won
- Click the Submit button
Chips or Check Payouts
- Complete steps 1-6 in the Cash Payments Section
- Click the Pay Amount button
- Verify the Payout Amounts and add the Check Number if applicable
- Click Submit
- Add the Check Amount and Check Number in the Remarks text box
- Click the Submit button
Duplicate Records
If an existing record does not match the player’s Social Security card, a photocopy of the identification must be made and sent with a request for correction to a Title 31 Associate.
Changing Records
Do NOT change the player name or Social Security number in Casino Marketplace.
