Cisco Phone - Extension Mobility

Background Information

Extension Mobility and IP Phone Agent (IPPA) allow users to sign in to Cisco Phones with assigned extensions, and track use and activity on that extension.  This Job Aide will walk you through the steps to use Extension Mobility on your Cisco Phone.

Signing Into Extension Mobility

  1. On your phone, press the “services” or “gear” button to bring up the Applications screen.
  2. Use the ring above the keypad to arrow down to “Extension Mobility” or press the number 6 on your phone’s keypad.
    • Note: the phone screen will display a “Requesting” screen for a varying amount of time, please be patient.
  3. Enter your provided User ID in the “UserID:” field.
  4. Arrow down and enter the provided PIN number in the “PIN:” field.
  5. Press the “Submit” button.
  6. If you’ve entered your information correctly, you will see the “Login Successful” response screen followed by the “Resetting” screen.
    • Note: the phone screen will display these screens for a varying amount of time, please be patient.
  7. Once successfully logged in, your phones display screen will show the Extension Mobility screen.

Signing Into IPPA

  1. Once logged in to Extension Mobility, on your phone, press the “services” or “gear” button to bring up the Applications screen.
  2. Use the ring above the keypad to arrow  down to “IPPA” or press the number 7 on your phone’s keypad.
    • Note: the phone screen will display a “Requesting” screen for a varying amount of time, please be patient.
  3. Enter your provided User ID in the “ID:” field.
  4. Arrow down and enter the provided PIN number in the “Password:” field.
    • Note: The “ID” number and “Password” are the same as your assigned “UserID” and “PIN” number.
    • Note: You will need to press the appropriate number button on the keypad a number of times to scroll to the correct character you’d like to use when entering the ID and Password.

  5. Arrow down and re-enter your “ID” number in the “Extension” field.
    • Note: The “Extension” number should be identical to the “ID” number you had entered on step 3.
  6. Press the “SignIn” button.
    • Note: the phone screen will display a “Requesting” screen for a varying amount of time, please be patient.
  7. The phone display screen should display your name, and status including the “Calls Queued” and other information. 

Setting IPPA Status

  1. The IPPA screen will default to a Not Ready Status.  From the IPPA screen press the “Ready” button to change your status to Ready.
  2. If you need to set your status to Not Ready for any reason, press the “Not Ready” button.
  3. From the list of reasons, arrow down to the most applicable reason for setting your status to Not Ready.
  4. The IPPA screen will display your updated Status.

Signing Out of IPPA

  1. From the IPPA screen press the “SignOut” button.
  2. Arrow down to “Clockout” or press the number 4 on your phone’s keypad.
  3. Press the “Exit” Button to Exit IPPA mode.

Logging Out of Extension Mobility

  1. To Log Out of Extension Mobility, on your phone, press the “services” or “gear” button to bring up the Applications screen.
  2. Use the ring above the keypad to arrow down to “Extension Mobility” or press the number 6 on your phone’s keypad.
    • Note: the phone screen will display a “Requesting” screen for a varying amount of time, please be patient.
  3. On the “Services” screen, you will be asked to confirm you want to Log Out.  Press the “Yes” button to proceed.
  4. The phone display screen with show “Logout Successful” if completed correctly.  Press the “Exit” button to proceed, or allow the phone to Exit.
    • Note: the phone screen will display a “Resetting” screen for a varying amount of time, please be patient.
