OneDrive - Getting Started

Background Information

OneDrive is a web-based environment for file storage. It is a powerful tool because large files can be uploaded and shared without file size restrictions. OneDrive is also a secure environment, which is ideal for sharing confidential information. This Job Aide lists instructions on accessing OneDrive, sharing documents, and navigating the environment.

Logging Into OneDrive Online

  1. There are several ways to navigate to the OneDrive online environment.
    • Go directly to https://casinoaz.onedrive.com
    • Navigate to The Source. Select the Global Navigation icon in the top, lefthand corner (3x3 boxes icon). From the drop-down, select OneDrive.
  2. Enter your Windows username followed by @casinoaz.com in the username field. (EX: ChristopherV@casinoaz.com).  If you have a @talkingstickresort.com email address, you will use the above username convention, not your email address.
  3. Click “Next”.
  4. Enter your windows password in the password field.  Click “Sign In”.

Logging Into OneDrive From the Desktop

  1. There are several ways to navigate to the OneDrive desktop environment.
    • Select the Start Menu on the bottom, lefthand corner of your desktop. Scroll down in the applications panel and select OneDrive.
      • This will open File Explorer and all files saved in your OneDrive online environment.
    • Open File Explorer. On lefthand panel, select OneDrive-casinoaz.com. A new window will appear with all files saved in your OneDrive online environment.

Manually Adding Files or Folders to OneDrive

  1. In the “Upload” dropdown, select either “Files” or “Folder,” depending on which you are uploading.
  2. To upload a folder, select the folder and click “Upload”.  To upload a file, select the file you want to upload and click “Open”.  You’re done.

Sharing Files or Folders Externally Using OneDrive

  1. Share files or folders by hovering your cursor over the file or folder you’d like to share and click the “Share Icon”. 
  2. Modify the editable settings by selecting the “Anyone with the link can edit” option.  In the “Link Settings” screen, select the “Specific people” option, and uncheck “Allow editing” to remove editing permissions from the recipient.  Click “Apply”.
  3. Add the recipients in the “To:” section by typing their first name and selecting them from the suggested list, or type the full email address, and click “Copy link”.  Click “Copy” from the “Link copied” popup. 
  4. You can now paste this link in an Outlook email to send to whomever you are trying to share your files or folders with.

Sharing Files or Folders Within CAZ Using OneDrive

  1. Share files or folders by hovering your cursor over the file or folder you would like to share and clicking the “Share Icon”. 
  2. Modify the editable settings by selecting the “Anyone with the link can edit” option.  In the “Link Settings” screen, select the options you would like to restrict the shared documents, and click “Apply”.
  3. Add the recipients in the “To:” section by typing their first name and selecting them from the suggested list or type the full email address.  You can add notes to the message as well.  When you are finished, click “Send”.

Requesting Files or Folders Using OneDrive

You can request files from internal users or external vendors by using “Request files” link in OneDrive.  To request files, follow these steps:

  1. Click the check box next to the folder where you would like the files to be uploaded.
  2. Click the “Request files” option from the top ribbon of the screen.
  3. In the “Request files” pop-up, put a brief description of the files you are requesting (EX “RFP for Fixes”).  Click “Next”.
  4. In the “Send file request” pop-up, you can copy the link using the “Copy link” button, then paste that link into an email.  You can then Send and Click “Done”.

Alternatively, if you are sending the link to a Casino Arizona or Talking Stick Resort email address, you can search for the user in the “To Name, group or email” field. You can add an optional message to be attached to the email, then click “Send”.
