BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Microsoft Excel allows you to query the various Business Intelligence data cubes available, and provides you with rich and informative data quickly. This Job Aide will walk you through the steps needed to change your connection on your Microsoft Excel Workbook, and utilize that data.

CHANGING DATA CONNECTION

  1. Click on “Data” in the Excel Ribbon
  2. Click on “Connections”
  3. Select the data connection you would like to change and click “Properties…”
  4. Click on the “Definition” Tab
  5. Modify what is listed in the “Connection string:” section under “Source=” section to reflect “Source=pBISSASDB”
  6. Click OK
  7. Refresh your Workbook, and the data will populate
