Background Information
If an ID is suspected to be fake or a guest is underage, users can complete Challenge Questions to determine an ID’s authenticity, save the fake or underage ID image, and tag a guest’s profile with any suspicious incidents for later reference. The following Job Aide provides steps on how to perform Challenge Questions, save a fake or underage ID, and tag a guest’s profile using the IDVisor Scanner.
Verifying a Suspicious ID Using Challenge Questions
When a yellow alert is triggered after scanning an ID, the user can proceed with asking Challenge Questions to help determine the authenticity of the ID:
- Select the Yellow Alert Shield icon that appears after scanning an ID.
- In the Yellow Shield Info window, select Challenge Questions.
- Select the drop-down arrow next to “State Slogan?” A new window will appear displaying multiple Challenge Question options.
- Choose a radio button for the question you would like to ask the guest. The correct answer will be down on the screen for staff verification.
TIP: Be courteous yet direct when asking the challenge question(s). If the guest hesitates or provides incorrection information, this may indicate the ID is not valid. If the ID remains questionable after asking the challenge question(s), it can be further validated by running it through the DMVCheck process.
Saving a Fake or Underage ID Image
If an ID is suspected to be fake or a guest is underage, it is important to capture and save an image of the ID for future reference. Follow these steps to save an ID:
- After performing a DMVCheck, locate the two camera icons below the guest’s information. Select the first camera icon.
- A camera view appears. Hold the ID in front of the camera so the entire ID is visible.
- Select the Picture button at the bottom of the screen to capture the image.
- Save or retake the image:
- Select the checkmark to save the image to the guest’s profile.
- Select the “X” to retake or discard the image if needed.
NOTE: Capturing the ID image ensures it can be reviewed if the guest attempts to return to property.
Tagging a Guest's Profile
Applying a tag to a guest’s profile helps identify and track incidents involving fake or underage IDs. Tags help Security and Management monitor repeat incidents and prevent future issues. Follow these steps to tag a guest profile:
- After scanning an ID, select the “Tag” button at the bottom of the screen.
- NOTE: This option is available on the main screen and allows you to begin the tagging process for the guest’s profile.
- Select the “Tag” drop-down menu to view available tag options.
- Select the appropriate radio button for the tag you wish to assign, such as “Banned” or “VIP” or “CheckID.”
- Select Save at the top of the screen to save and apply the tag to the guest’s profile.
Important Reminders
- Encourage your team to consistently use the Challenge Questions, ID Image Capture, and Tagging functions whenever a suspicious ID is presented.
- Proper documentation and follow-up are critical for ensuring guest safety and legal compliance.
