Background Information
The following Job Aide will walk you through the steps of updating your computer to Windows 11 v22H2 which will be the new standard operating system for the Enterprise.
NOTE: If updating your laptop, it must be connected to an A/C power adapter and the VPN for the duration of the upgrade. For best results and quickest installation, it is recommended to run the upgrade while onsite rather than remote. Estimated installation will take 1 - 2 hours.
Upgrading to Windows 11 Instructions
- Save and close all open applications/documents on the screen.
- Select the Start Menu in the bottom-lefthand corner of the screen.
- Begin typing “Software Center” on your keyboard in the Search Bar at the top of the screen.
- Select Software Center from the list of Best Match results.
- Select Operating Systems on the left side of the Software Center window.
- Select the Windows 11 in-place Upgrade to 22H2 option from the Operating Systems list.
- From the Operating System Details window, select Install.
- A confirmation window appears. Review these instructions and select Install when ready.
- While the update is running, allow time for the tasks to be completed. Your computer will restart multiple times during this upgrade.
- Please Note: The estimated time ranges from 1-2 hours when onsite. This duration will increase if connected through VPN.
- When the computer returns to a log in screen, you can log back in and resume your work.
