Background Information
Send Word Now, via Onsolve, allows the user to initiate alerts and monitor their status from the mobile application on a smartphone. This Job Aide walks you through the steps of sending an alert from the mobile application – Send Word Now.
Download the Mobile App to Your Smartphone
- Open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android) and search for OnSolve.
- Install the OnSolve Mobile App on your smartphone.
- After installation is complete, open the OnSolve Mobile App.
- Select Next to proceed to notification settings.
- Choose Don’t Allow or Allow OnSolve to send you notifications. OnSolve recommends allowing notifications so you can be notified of an alert when not using the app.
- Select Next to proceed to location settings.
- Set location permissions by choosing Allow Once.
- Note: Once fully logged into the application, you can modify your location permissions to Always to always allow notifications to be sent to your device.
NOTE: A mobile phone must have cell service or a Wi-Fi connection to use OnSolve Mobile. When there is no connection, the app displays a red banner warning.
Signing Into the Mobile App
- Open the OnSolve Mobile App. Be sure you are signing into the SENDER version of the application.
- Enter your OnSolve workspace name.
- Select the USER option.
- Enter your assigned username and password.
- NOTE: Select “Forgot Username or Password” for assistance as needed.
- Select SIGN IN.
Creating a New Broadcast Alert
The following steps will explain how to create a new broadcast alert:
- Select the plus (+) icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Select Create Advanced Alert.
- Select Add Details. Fill in the fields on the Alerts Details page.
- Compose the Message Body on the All tab.
- Select Save. The Alert Details section on the Create Alert page displays a summary of those details.
The following steps will explain how to assign alert recipients:
- From the Create Alert page, select Add Recipients. The Recipients page defaults to the Broadcast alert type.
- At the top of the Recipients page, set the Alert Duration.
- Choose the desired contacts, groups, schedules, and topics to add as recipients.
- Select Save. The Recipients section on the Create Alert page displays a summary of the number of contacts, groups, schedules, and topics to receive the alert, as well as the alert type.
NOTE: At any point before sending the alert, select + Add More to add more recipients to the alert, or select the edit icon to remove recipients.
The following steps will explain how to choose the delivery methods and to send the alert:
- From the Create Alert page, select Delivery Methods. The Delivery Methods page opens with devices set to your account’s default.
- Drag and drop any devices that should not be contacted into the Off column.
- For those device types that should be contacted, drag and drop them into the appropriate columns. Note that there can be more than one device in each column.
- Each numbered column represents a priority level. Drag and drop the delivery method you want OnSolve Platform to send to first into column 1, second into column 2, and so on.
- Any methods dropped into the Recipient Settings column are contacted after all devices in the numbered columns, and according to each recipient’s chosen priority order.
- To turn all devices Off, select Turn Off All.
- To reset to your account’s default, select Reset to Default.
- Select Save. The Delivery Methods section on the Create Alert page displays the number of device types to be contacted.
- Once all required and desired components of the alert are complete, select Send, and then Send Now.
- To log out of the application, select the App Menu (hamburger icon) in the bottom right of the screen.
Modifying App Settings
Navigate to the App Settings to adjust your location and notification settings for your mobile device.
- Select the App Menu (hamburger icon) in the bottom right of the screen to open the App Menu.
- Select App Settings.
- Next to Notifications, select View in Settings to open your mobile device settings and adjust.
- Next to Location Services, select View in Settings to open your mobile device settings and adjust.
